CARRICKFERGUS GRAMMAR SCHOOL RECORDS FURTHER EXCELLENT ‘A’ LEVEL PASS RATES

Carrickfergus Grammar School has congratulated its pupils at AS and A2 Level on their exam results which have led to sustained high performance across all subjects and which see the school sitting 7% above Northern Ireland Grammar School averages from 2025.

An impressive 62 pupils at the school achieved at least 2 ‘A*/A’ grades in their A Level and AS profiles, representing almost 40% of the Sixth Form cohort.

Particular congratulations go Year 14 pupils Jenna Clarke, Reece Dougherty, Naomi Hazley, Grace Magee, Charlie McCullough, Ellie-Rose McDowell, Molly Montgomery, Grace Nelson, Chloe Parsons, Beth Patterson, Olivia Shields, Hamzah Syed, Emily Winsby and Olivia Woodside who all received at least 3 ‘A’ grades. Sam Taylor, Max Matuszewski, Marc Campbell and Matthew Withers all received at least 3 A* grades.

Speaking after the distribution of results, Principal James Maxwell said: “The results received by our pupils are remarkable”.

“Each and every one of these pupils has been on a unique journey through secondary school. All of them, alongside their families and friends, faced the challenge and disruption of COVID-19 and consequent lockdowns as pupils in Years 8 and 9 as they started secondary school life. Here they are, six years later, achieving results which will help to secure their futures. Some have experienced ill health, bereavement or other challenges along the way. They have demonstrated great courage and strength. We are utterly proud of them all, and on behalf of the Governors and staff of Carrickfergus Grammar School, I offer them all sincerest congratulations.”

In May 2026, Carrickfergus Grammar School was identified in Belfast Telegraph league tables as the top-performing school in Northern Ireland at GCSE, and one of the top six ranked schools at ‘A’ Level.
