Carrickfergus Grammar draws its pupils from 25 feeder schools stretching from Islandmagee and Ballynure to the suburbs of Belfast. We have very good relations with all of our Primary Schools and try to make the transition from Primary to Grammar School as painless as possible. We do this in the following ways:-

Primary School Liaison Teachers

Mr MacDonald is the main link teacher with the Primary Schools.

He visits the P7 pupils of each School in January to give a Presentation about Carrickfergus Grammar, publicise details of our Open Evening, answer any questions and visits again in June to help ease the transition from Primary to Post Primary education.

Languages

Our French and Spanish Departments already have contact with a small number of Primary Schools during the European Day of Languages. It is hoped that more Schools will be involved this year.
